"Music that brings a smile to your face" is the most frequent feedback given to JPOD's signature sound. It combines dropkick drums, bobblehead bass and intelligent instrumentation that uniquely represents the flowering West-Coast Canada flavor. With original productions, remixes and an innovative DJ style, JPOD's live performances never fail to impress listeners and dancers alike. In addition JPOD runs a cutting-edge digital label called Swing Set Sounds which is aimed not only at providing great music but also various tools for new wave producers and remix DJs. Having toured extensively in Western Canada and now Australia at both clubs and festivals, JPOD continues to energetically spread his sound to all open ears.
The title track, System Is Broke features a combination of a political message and beautiful instrumentation along with JPOD's crunchy and bent basslines. Mandorli provides a jazz-infused midtempo bass remix while Kashoo works a suave and classy angle with a more organic feel. Also in the release are two original compositions by JPOD. In the Mist is a deep and moving piece with eastern overtones and Bigga Berth grooves out at a slower pace with heavy sinister bass and a pleasant complement of synths.
JPOD always maintans a solid foundation of big beats, crunchy bass and an overall crisp sound. This release has JPOD experimenting with faster tempos, bringing his flavor into the realm of midtempo with two versions of Vibes Alive. Shamik joins up in this release to provide uplifting lyrical content inspired by the desire for inner growth and forward progress.
JPOD intentionally distributed Halfsteppin across a wide variety of tempos. Uplifting melodic progressions, intricate textures and his ever-present bassic bounce are consistent throughout the release. JPOD's rhythm skills combine with the freshness of half-time drum patterns and organic swing to create a compelling character of sound. Halfsteppin is no short achievement, aiming to take you on a dynamic journey along the twists and turns of an audibly alluring adventure.
